Prepare the Dough:
In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add flour and mix into a soft dough. Wrap and chill for 30 minutes. -
Make the Custard:
Heat milk in a saucepan. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch. Gradually whisk in warm milk, then return to the saucepan.
Cook on medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat, add vanilla, and cool completely. -
Combine the Cream:
Beat cream cheese until smooth, then mix in cooled custard. Gently fold in whipped cream until creamy and fluffy. -
Assemble the Cake:
Divide dough into two parts (⅔ for base, ⅓ for top). Press the larger portion into a greased 9-inch springform pan. Pour in the cream filling.
Roll out remaining dough and arrange on top (you can lattice or crumble it for a rustic look). -
Bake:
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes, until golden. Let cool, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight). -
