๐Ÿ– Classic Meatloaf Recipe (Tender, Juicy & Full of Flavor)

Few dishes say “home-cooked comfort” like a slice of classic meatloaf. Tender, juicy, and topped with a sweet-and-savory glaze, it’s the kind of meal that brings everyone to the table.

This easy homemade meatloaf recipe uses simple ingredients you already have — ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, and seasonings — but the result is anything but ordinary. Whether you serve it with mashed potatoes, green beans, or mac & cheese, it’s the perfect cozy dinner your family will ask for again and again.

๐Ÿง‚ Ingredients:

For the Meatloaf:

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend for the best texture)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • ¾ cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)

  • 2 large eggs

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp dried thyme (optional)

For the Glaze:

  • ½ cup ketchup

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp Dijon or yellow mustard

๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿณ Instructions:

1. Preheat & Prepare:

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet or loaf pan with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

2. Mix the Meatloaf:

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, pepper, and thyme.
Mix gently — don’t overwork the meat or it can turn dense.

3. Shape & Bake:

Shape the mixture into a loaf (about 9x5 inches) and place it on the baking sheet or in a loaf pan. Bake for 40 minutes.

4. Add the Glaze:

Meanwhile, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. After 40 minutes, brush glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
Return to the oven and bake for another 15–20 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

5. Rest & Serve:

Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing — this keeps it juicy.
Serve with creamy mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or your favorite sides.

๐Ÿฅ” Tips for the Best Meatloaf:

  • Use 80/20 ground beef for juicy results.

  • Soak breadcrumbs in milk before adding — it helps keep the texture tender.

  • Add finely diced bell pepper or shredded carrot for extra flavor.

  • Leftovers make amazing meatloaf sandwiches the next day!
